The EAM competency has a standing of 3 years, after which, training must be repeated. Successful completion of the course also enables you to apply for a Bronchodilator Accreditation Number (BAN), which is required in order for organisations to hold asthma reliever medication in their first aid box. Organisations requiring a BAN include sporting groups, child-care centres, kindergartens, social groups etc. Only schools do not need a BAN, they have a different procedure to follow.
